Perlubie Sports Committee

Held annually on New Year’s Day, the Perlubie Beach Sports is a one-of-a-kind event that has been bringing locals and visitors together for over a century. This much-loved tradition, first celebrated in 1914, will mark its 112th year in 2026, making it one of the Eyre Peninsula’s most iconic and enduring events.
Each year, crowds flock to Perlubie Beach to take part in or cheer on a varied athletic program (tide permitting) with the challenging 1600m Open Endurance Race, followed by flat races in specified divisions on the sand.
With a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, this historic event is the perfect way to welcome the New Year in true Streaky Bay style. Whether you’re racing, spectating, or simply soaking up the beach vibes, the Perlubie Beach Sports is an unforgettable experience!
Free bus picking up/dropping off 10.30am to 8.30pm in the carpark of Streaky Bay Hotel and Islands Caravan Park.
